Hi, I'm Alexis…
but you can call me Lex
As a mom of 3 and former NICU nurse, helping new parents like you is my greatest joy. Enabling you to tap into your own natural instincts to be successful with your new little one is what I’m here for.
I’ve helped countless families navigate those exciting yet exhausting first days, weeks, and months that can be riddled with a combination of joy, fear, self-doubt, success, and tears.
In the hospital setting, I wished I had more time to devote to new families. Watching new moms, fresh from delivery and still in pain, struggle with breastfeeding made me realize there’s a need to do more.
That’s when I decided to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and help as many parents as I could.
I wanted to ensure that new parents have access to adequate breast and bottle feeding support upon discharge from the hospital, and that is how Intuitive Breastfeeding & Newborn Consulting, LLC was born.
I serve families world-wide virtually, as well as in their homes in the Charlotte, North Carolina area and surrounding cities, including those on the South Carolina border.
“What good mothers and fathers instinctively feel like doing for their babies is usually best after all.”
“Alexis was the miracle we needed. She made me feel comfortable right from the start by taking the time to listen to me. I never expected nursing to be such a challenge and was immediately calmed by how patient, supportive, and knowledgeable she was. Alexis gave us the tools and tips we needed and gave us a personalized plan to help us succeed. I highly recommend Alexis for any mom who may have questions before birth or is experiencing difficulties after. I’ve got her on speed dial for when it’s time for baby number two.”

My Personal Breastfeeding Experience
I have been a teen mom, a mom over 35, a single mom, a married mom, a NICU mom of a 33-week preemie, an exclusively breastfeeding mom, a pumping and bottle feeding mom, a working mom, a stay at home mom, and now a grandma!
I breastfed all three of my kids, as well as watched and encouraged as my oldest breastfed my granddaughter. I grew up around breastfeeding so it felt like nursing a baby should just come naturally, but that wasn’t the case at all! I had a completely different breastfeeding experience with each one of my kids.
Nursing my oldest was a dream. We had no issues latching, I had no pain and my milk supply was just what she needed. This breastfeeding experience as a first time mom was empowering and amazing, but it falsely led me to believe that this is what I could expect with the next baby.
Cue the second baby and toe-curling pain, oversupply and a miserably uncomfortable baby who cried constantly. I wish that I had known then that a Lactation Consultant was an option, but I didn’t, so we suffered through much longer than we should have.
My third was born prematurely at 33 weeks and unable to latch, so I pumped and bottle-fed for four months. Once we started nursing, I had an oversupply and a miserably uncomfortable baby again. Still, I didn't know we could have gotten help, and as a result, we barely left the house until he was a year old because he just cried so much.
Every day I see parents struggling like I did, and I feel their pain because I’ve been through something similar. I don’t want you to suffer through without the support you need. You deserve to have the tools and education you need to succeed. If you feel overwhelmed, fearful, full of self-doubt, or defeated, I’m here for you and ready to listen and support.
